Massive & Major: A Sunflower at the Post Office

Between Friday night and yesterday, two things happened that I can only describe as Massive and Major.

The first happened Friday night during a faith-based business investment pitch competition at my church — something similar to Shark Tank, but Kingdom-centered. Standing there representing Ja’ja Chews®, sharing the vision, the journey, and the assignment God placed on my heart back in 2020 was an experience I’m honestly still trying to process.

What unfolded that evening was powerful, emotional, and deeply affirming in ways I never expected.

I’ll take you on that journey in the next blog because, truthfully, I’m still sitting with the magnitude of it all.

But for now, I want to share what happened yesterday while mailing out a customer order for Ja’ja Chews®.

What should have been an ordinary trip to the post office became one of the most unforgettable moments I’ve experienced in a long time.

Normally, the post office at that time of day is packed. I mentally prepare myself to stand in line for at least 10–15 minutes before even approaching the counter. But yesterday was different from the moment I walked in.

There was only one person there finishing up their mailing. As soon as they walked away, I was immediately invited to step forward. While the postal worker helped me complete the shipment, I looked behind me and noticed something unusual:

There was no one else in the building.

No line.

No customers.

Completely empty during one of the busiest parts of the day.

I remember saying to the postal worker, “There’s no one in here for this time of day.”

She gently raised her finger to her lips and quietly said, “Shh.”

I smiled and simply went along with it, but inwardly I remember thinking how strangely peaceful the atmosphere felt.

After mailing the package, I walked outside and noticed a burgundy pickup truck parked nearby. Almost immediately, a woman called out to me and said, “Come here, I have something for you.”

I turned around, and she reached into her truck and pulled out the most beautiful freshly cut sunflower. The stem had been carefully wrapped in a wet paper towel to keep it fresh.

She handed it to me and said:

“I just left the sunflower garden and clipped some sunflowers. God told me to give this to you.”

I was stunned.

As I reached for the flower, I looked closely at her. There was something incredibly unique and peaceful about her presence — something difficult to explain. I thanked her and said, “Thank you so much. God bless you.”

She smiled warmly and replied:

“God bless you too. He told me to give this to you.”

I walked to my car completely in awe. I snapped a picture of the sunflower, and as I looked at the photo, I noticed her truck still sitting there in the background. The lights were on. The engine was still running.

That’s when something struck me.

She never went inside the post office.

She didn’t have a package.

She wasn’t mailing anything.

She was simply there… waiting.

Even while I stood there admiring the sunflower and taking pictures, she remained outside near the open truck door, almost as if she was waiting until I fully received the moment.

Before driving away, I rolled my window down one last time and said:

“Thank you so much. You truly made my day.”

And she replied:

“I love Jesus, and I know you do too.”

Then I drove away.

As I reflected on the encounter later that evening, I realized something:

So much of the Ja’ja Chews® journey has been built on moments just like this — unexpected encounters, divine encouragement, quiet confirmations, and reminders that God is involved in even the smallest details.

From the very beginning, Ja’ja Chews® has never felt like just a business to me. It has felt like an assignment. Every customer order packed, every conversation shared at a vendor event, every testimony received, every late night in the kitchen, and every step of obedience has carried moments where I could clearly sense God’s hand guiding the process.

Yesterday felt like one of those moments again.

Whether that woman was an angel or simply someone obedient to the voice of God, one thing became very clear to me:

God has a way of reminding us that He sees us.

He sees us while we’re building.

He sees us while we’re serving.

He sees us while we’re stretching beyond what feels comfortable.

And He sees us while we’re carrying visions that are bigger than ourselves.

Sometimes heaven whispers through major moments.

And sometimes… it arrives wrapped in a wet paper towel holding a sunflower. 🌻
