Conceived for a Purpose

It’s often said that there are two important days in your life: the day you were born and the day you discover why.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve found myself reflecting on that saying, and I can’t help but see it a little differently.

What if there are actually three?

The day you were conceived.

The day you were born.

And the day you surrender your life to the One who conceived you with purpose.

I recently learned that because I was born on December 4, I was likely conceived around March 13. That simple realization caused me to pause.

Before anyone knew my name…

Before I took my first breath…

Before I accomplished anything…

God already knew me.

He knew every mountain I would climb, every setback I would face, every victory I would celebrate, and every person my life would intersect with.

Then another date came rushing back to me.

July 13, 2020.

For years, I’ve celebrated that day because it marked the beginning of what would become Ja’ja Chews®. It’s the day I heard God telling me to get lemons, ginger, garlic, and eventually raw honey.

But I recently realized I had overlooked something even greater.

That was the day I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.

After decades of battling serious health challenges, I had reached the end of myself. My prayer wasn’t for a business. It wasn’t for success. It wasn’t even for healing.

It was simply:

“Lord, I’m done, take me home. I’m tired of being sick and tired.”

Instead, He gave me a new life.

Looking back now, I can see that my greatest miracle wasn’t receiving an idea.

It was surrender.

Everything that has followed has grown from that moment.

A simple instruction led to Ja’ja Chews®. One act of obedience became a business. That business has grown into opportunities to serve customers, partner with retailers, hear incredible testimonies, and share the story of God’s faithfulness with people I never imagined I would meet.

One recent testimony came from a woman who initially tried Ja’ja Chews while looking for a natural option. As she continued using them, she shared that she began noticing encouraging changes after years of struggling with some other issues that she was experiencing in her health. Reading her message reminded me that every product carries the potential for a meaningful conversation and every conversation carries the opportunity to bring hope.

The more I look back, the more I realize that purpose is rarely revealed all at once.

It unfolds one step of obedience at a time.

Today, Ja’ja Chews continues to grow. Production is increasing. New opportunities continue to open, and I’m grateful for every one of them.

But if there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this:

Purpose isn’t something we manufacture. It’s something we walk in, one faithful step at a time.

I’m sharing this because someone reading these words may feel like they’re at the end of their own strength.

Please don’t give up.

Sometimes what feels like the end is actually the place where a brand-new chapter begins.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me, supported Ja’ja Chews, shared your stories, and believed in this journey. Your encouragement means more than you know.

I’m looking forward to all that’s ahead.
